Jay-Z - Blueprint 3.1 (The Christopher Loren Collection)

When I first listened to Blueprint 3...I was not a fan.

Blueprint 2 finally grew on me after nearly an entire year...so maybe this one would to. And, slowly some tracks grew on me. But, still...overall it just isn't a great album. It was terribly sequenced and a few songs just did not fit. So...what to do?

Well...rework it of course.

What I did was keep the songs I like...and then I included a few songs that were left off of the album that came out around the same time as the album. I know..."Swagga Like Us" is on TI's album...

So.

It fits the vibe of the album, as does "Brooklyn Go Hard", which was on the Notorious Soundtrack. And, why in the world was "Jockin' Jay-Z" never included on BP3 to begin with???

So, here is the finished product in all of it's 320kbps glory.

So I've wanted to do this for awhile now & just now finally got around to doing so...

I present...The Christopher Loren Collection.

This will be an ongoing series of albums I personally believe are superior to the heaps of garbage that clutter the internet on a daily basis. The albums posted will typically be hard to find albums that I consider classic & will more than likely be altered in the form of re-arranging, re-mastering, re-mixing...who knows. I can just say it will be quality music that you will all want to have in your collection.

So, with the first selection into The Christopher Loren Collection I present...

Pharrell Williams - Out of My Mind

A little backstory on this album...

Pharrell originally released "In My Mind" in 2005 to very lackluster reviews. It featured your basic Neptunes production style throughout the majority of the album, but many people felt it was bland & lacked creativity from an artist that many have always considered a trend setter. In 2007 Pharrell joined forces with Questlove (of The Roots fame) to attempt to bring new life to the quickly forgotten "In My Mind". The two, along with a few other musicians, set out to give the same treatment to the album that was so successful with N.E.R.D.'s debut album...re-recording the album with live instrumentation. Ultimately the label felt it wasn't in their best interests to release an album of material that already flopped once...so the album was shelved. What was recorded slowly began to leak song by song. Mostly via Questlove & his Myspace page. The quality of the songs leaked varied from near CD quality to damn near terrible. I stumbled across a decent sounding version of the album one day online & decided to give it the good 'ol digital re-mastering & felt the need to tweak the tracklisting to create a better flowing, less filler album.

So, here is my version, in full 320kbps along with a custom album cover, of what could have been a classic...enjoy

Jay-Z - American Gangster (The Remixes) 2009

I must admit...I never really loved American Gangster as a whole album. It had some great songs...The ROC Boys, Blue Magic, Hello Brooklyn...but as an entire album it just seemed kinda boring. There have been countless remix albums released by aspiring producers and after downloading numerous versions I've compiled my own "best of" album. Some tracks had no remix that could touch the original...so I left the original to keep the quality of the album up. Hope ya'll like the mix.

Brother Ali - Us

I think it's safe to say that this album is a front runner for Hip Hop album of the year. Definately the jewel of a very busy September...and that's saying a lot considering how impressive "Only Built For Cuban Links II" was. I am posting this because it's already leaked online & Ali is streaming it on his myspace...but I really do hope people support Ali & purchase the album when it is released on September 22nd. Very few artists always deserve the public's hard earned money...but Ali continues to deserve every penny each fan can spare. SUPPORT!
